Below is a list of the major course assignments. Some assignments may be completed during class time, but most will require additional work outside of class. This list does not include quizzes or class participation assignments. Additional

and on the course Website. Technology Journey For this assignment you will write an essay in which you reflect on where you are on your technology journey at the commencement of this course. Points to discuss can include experiences with technology in k-12 settings, as well as more current uses of technology as a college student. Introduction to APA format and word processing is included. More details will be given in class. Instructional
Technology
Computer Literacy Each student will participate in various class activities and assignments designed to lead to self-sufficiency when using a computer, including basic hardware and software troubleshooting, standard terminology and basic computer concepts. More details will be given in class. Graphics Editing In this assignment you will create images using paint and draw features of graphics programs. You will also be asked to consider authentic ways to use this program in your chosen first teaching field. More details will be given in class. Web-based Learning You will be required to evaluate an educational website for its applicability for use in your chosen teaching field or grade level and to participate in various Internet applications and assess their potential as instructional tools. More details will be given in class. Educational Software Evaluation You will be required to locate and evaluate an educational software program for its potential usefulness in your chosen teaching field or grade level. More details will be given in class. Spreadsheet/Graphing Software This assignment will emphasize the use and creation of a spreadsheet for recordkeeping purposes and use it to generate and interpret graphs. You will explore the unique features and distinguishing elements of various graph formats and be asked to consider authentic ways to use these applications in your teaching field/grade level. More details will be given in class. Presentation Tools This assignment will introduce you to the features of presentation programs such as PowerPoint and their potential as an educational tool for your first teaching field. More details will be given in class. Multimedia You will plan, tape, edit and produce a short instructional video appropriate for your planned grade level and/or subject matter, show it to the entire class and publish it on the Web. More details will be given in class. Concept Mapping You will explore the use of cognitive tools through the use of concept mapping and apply it to teaching and learning in your chosen first teaching field. More details will be given in class. Web Development/E-portfolio You will be required to create an electronic portfolio pertaining to learning in this course. More details will be given in class. |
