About the instructor . . .

Robin M. Roberts retired from public school teaching in Hanford's Pioneer Union School District and subsequently earned a Ph.D. in Learning and Technology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. At UNLV, he served as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Educational Leadership and a part-time instructor in the Departments of Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Psychology. His dissertation was titled Best Instructional Practices for Distance Education: A Meta-analysis. He also holds a Masters Degree in Education (Curriculum and Instruction Emphasis) from California State University, Fresno where he was awarded the Dean's Medal as the Outstanding Graduate student from the Kremen School of Education and Human Development for 2003.  In addition, Robin earned a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Technology, California Single and Multiple Subject teaching credentials, and a certificate of eligibility for Educational Administration in California (preliminary credential) from that same university.  His master's thesis, The Role of Computers in School Restructuring:  A Meta-Analysis, was nominated by the Kremen School of Education and Human Development for the University Outstanding Thesis award for 2003. Dr. Roberts earned his BA in Industrial Arts and Technology (Electricity/Electronics emphasis) from CSU, Fresno after transferring from San Joaquin Delta Community College in Stockton, California with an Associate of Arts degree in Natural Science (Geology emphasis).  He also earned minors in music at both institutions.

Mr. Roberts is the author of several well-received local history books: Images of America: Hanford, Images of America: Hanford 1900-2000; and Images of America: Kings County. His most recent publication is a chapter titled "The Digital Generation and Web 2.0: E-Learning Concern or Media Myth?" in Yang & Yeun's (Eds.), Handbook of Research on Practices and Outcomes in E-Learning: Issues and Trends, published October 2009.
